Sister Marie Dolores Griffith entered religious life from St. George parish in Pittsburgh, Pa. Before joining the Sisters of Divine Providence, she belonged to another community in Columbus, Oh. She was in internal ministry in that community for 40 years (1951–91). When she came back to Pittsburgh in 1991, she served as administrative assistant in the development office at Providence Heights (1991–2010). She retired from full-time ministry in 2010, but continued to volunteer in the development office until 2013. Presently, she volunteers in music ministry as pianist and as a liturgical dancer at Community events.
She finds that her commitment to God in community is life-giving and challenging, a source of hope, encouragement, and a shared experience of God’s presence in all the realities of our day-to-day existence. She says, “My enthusiasm for religious life is sustained by the certainty that God is source and substance of our lives and truly worth all the dedication of my life’s energies.”
In her spare time, Sister Marie Dolores enjoys gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles.
