Sister Charlotte Tolliver is a potter skilled in wheel-thrown and hand-built vessels.
She has been commissioned to do liturgical vessels for churches and retreat centers throughout the country. In Pittsburgh, her pieces can be purchased at Kearns Spirituality Center. Her studio is on the property of Providence Villa.
Sister Charlotte also teaches ceramics classes at Sweetwater Center for the Arts in Sewickley, Pa. All proceeds from her work benefit the Sisters of Divine Providence.
Sister Charlotte believes that her pottery is a conduit for sharing God’s Providence with others. She says, "I am always amazed to hear the stories of the families who have used my pottery and discover the places it's been." She enjoys teaching as much as she enjoys creating new pieces. "I believe my students come away from my classes having a greater appreciation for pottery and the connection that’s made between clay and people."
