Catherine Frost, CDP
Sister Catherine Frost, formerly Sister Ann Joachim, entered religious life from St. Mary parish in Freeport, Pa. Her father was her greatest influence in deciding to become a Sister. She says, “He loved life and challenged me to find my way, love what I do, and look forward to new challenges—to be surprised at every turn.”
Her ministry as an educator spanned 42 years, including Queen of Peace in Detroit, Mi., St. Mary in Glenshaw, Pa., St. Anthony in Oakmont, Pa., Blessed Sacrament in Warren, Oh., St. Mark’s in Harlem, NY, and Providence Heights Alpha School in Allison Park, Pa. She considers her time in Harlem as a turning point in her life, as she saw the world through new eyes, with a new understanding of God—everywhere!
Sister Cathy is a first cousin to Sisters Anne and Carolyn Winschel, sisters who are also Sisters of Divine Providence. When she entered religious life in 1953, that’s when she really got to know them well. She and Sister Carolyn were in the novitiate together, a year apart.
Presently, Sister Cathy volunteers on the Providence Heights staff, oftentimes driving other Sisters to outside appointments. Always smiling, she enjoys traveling, reading, writing, and singing.
