Valley Ministry Welcoming Refugees for 29 Years
Last week, a shelter in San Benito with a decades-long history of welcoming people of all places celebrated helping its 10,000th refugee.
The three religious sisters who have been running La Posada Providencia for the past 29 years say they will continue to offer opportunities for those crossing into the U.S. illegally.
“It’s very important because, first of all, the gospel mandates to welcome the stranger,” says Sister Margaret, “and they are our brothers and sisters.”
The former teachers also impart English classes and teach them life skills to survive in the country.
