Blue Light Perpetual Vigil
Rekindling Our Blue Light Vigil
On February 2, the Feast of Candlemas, we invited every convent, ministry, and home to place a blue light in a street-facing window. Blue represents the cooling peace of the Spirit and a mantle of protection. We called it a Perpetual Vigil, with no end date: our lights would remain lit each night until hospitality replaces hostility and the dignity of every person becomes the foundation of our common life.
That change has not yet come, and neither has our watch ended. Over these months some lights have dimmed and some windows have gone dark. On October 5 we gather to rekindle them. We carry the wisdom of Marie de la Roche, who taught that the darkest path leads to light, but only through the labor of love and the gift of grace. Ours is not a passive hope. It is a faithful attentiveness: a willingness to stay present, to watch, and to respond with courage.
Share Your Blue Light
Whether your light has burned since Candlemas or you are placing one for the first time, we invite you to join the vigil. Set a blue light in a street-facing window of your home, convent, or ministry. Then take a photo and send it to us at Missionadvancement@cdpsisters.org. With your permission, we will share these images on our website and social media, so that together our windows become a constellation of peace. If you would like your first name and town shared with your photo, please include them.
May our windows hold watch together for the coming dawn.
