Margarita Rivera Rivera, CDP
Sister Margarita Rivera Rivera credits the Sisters of Divine Providence, who ministered in San Miguel Parish, Utuado, PR, with influencing and supporting her decision to become a Sister. Sr. Matilda, a Sister of Divine Providence, helped her to recognize and follow her vocation to religious life. Sister Margarita entered religious life from San Miguel parish in Puerto Rico in 1965. Self-described as humble, charitable, honest and a music- and sports-enthusiast, her ministry includes serving as a nurse for the Sisters at Providence Heights in Pittsburgh, as well as a private home nurse in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Since 2011, she has been taking care of a family member with Alzheimer’s disease. When reflecting on what is the most important to her within the charism of the community or how she sees herself living out her charism, she says, “Helping me to believe in God more deeply. I feel that God never leaves me alone in all my sufferings.”
